Amy has always loved science fiction—books, movies, shows, and games. She was born in San Diego, California, and moved with her family to Vancouver, Washington, at the age of seven. After devouring some of the classics like Dune and Ender's Game in her tween years, she began writing science fiction and fantasy short stories.

In the ensuing years, Amy attended the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, where she continued to study creative writing, visual art and played viola in the school orchestra. During this time, she began the very early sketches of what would eventually evolve into the Cadicle series.

Amy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Portland State University, and also pursued minors in Professional Writing and Business Administration. After graduating, she moved to Portland, Oregon, and began working in business development for an energy efficiency consulting firm. Over the next several years, she primarily wrote proposals to prospective utility clients and managed the proposal development process. She then transitioned from energy efficiency into the architectural, engineering and planning industry. However, she eventually succumbed to the writing bug.

Now a full-time author, Amy currently lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband. When she's not writing, she enjoys travel, wine tasting, binge-watching TV series, and playing epic strategy board games.

BOOK 3: ON THE RUN
ABOUT THE BOOK
Sometimes the past is best left buried.

Breaking the rules got Joe Anderson kicked out of the TSS and shipped back to his primitive home planet, Earth. Captain Iza Sundari is left on the Verity, struggling to keep the crew together.
When the environment of an outer colony planet begins mysteriously transforming, Iza and her crew are faced with a puzzle that only they can solve. Unfortunately, the mission soon puts them on the radar of the TSS—but Iza’s learned a thing or two about how to circumvent the law.
To avoid capture and find Joe, Iza will have to come to terms with her family history to save her future. If she fails, not only will Iza lose any hope of reuniting with Joe, but she’ll ignite a galactic war.
PLOT SYNOPSIS - On the Run (Verity Chronicles Book 3)
With Joe exiled to Earth, Iza and the rest of the Verity’s crew and trying to get by. Still carrying on her phony engagement to Karter, it’s not a matter of if, but when Iza will find a way to rescue Joe from Earth.
A strange distress signal from the planet Uephus rallies the crew to action. The world has undergone and sudden and violent transformation, changing from a desert wasteland to a tropical paradise in a matter of hours, along with violent geological shifts. Millions have died, and a small band of survivors need immediate assistance.
The Verity’s crew renders aid along with the Iron Dog, who was secretly hired by Karter's mother, Phaedra Hyttinen, to trail the Verity. While investigating, Iza discovers a Gate sphere at the bottom of a new ocean; somehow the transformations are originating through the open portal. While investigating the sphere, Trix is taken over by an alien presence, announcing, “You have broken the treaty. The Gatekeepers have returned.”
After another wave of planetary transformations, the Tararian Guard arrives and takes over relief efforts. The Verity departs and begins their own investigation into the so-called ‘Gatekeepers’ while plotting how to retrieve Joe from Earth.
Meanwhile, at TSS Headquarters, Agent Ian Mandren is monitoring the situation on Uephus and gearing up with High Commander Wil Sietinen for a possible alien contact scenario. The TSS still has the Gate sphere that’s been so contested.
Victor Arvonen is also working behind the scenes to bring his own plans to fruition. He needs to get the Gate sphere back from the TSS in order to get control of the Gate portal technology, and he decides that interrogating ex-TSS Agent Joe Anderson about Iza is the best way to get answers. He sends a team to Earth to get Joe so they can raid his memories.
With the help of Karter, Iza takes a stealth shuttle to Earth and begins looking for Joe. She discovers that he’s been missing for a day. When she goes to Joe’s apartment looking for clues, she instead finds TSS Agents also looking for him, and she’s escorted to TSS Headquarters. She learns that Victor Arvonen has taken Joe.
Iza and the TSS decide that working together is the only option. Joe’s TSS Agent sister, Skyler, is assigned to go on the Verity to aid in the search for Joe—and Victor Arvonen.
A new set of planetary transformations creates chaos. Iza goes to Hubyria as it begins to transform and meets up with her aunt. She reveals the truth to Iza: her father and uncle were Gatekeeper-Taran hybrids, so Iza has Gatekeeper DNA and that’s why the spheres respond to her. Her cousin, Jaidyn, is likewise the child of a Gatekeeper hybrid, so he’s been targeted by Arvonen, as well. Her aunt is killed in the attack on the planet, and Iza barely escapes with her life.
Levekis is also hit with the transformations, and the crew go to rescue Cierra’s family with Viper’s help. The family comes together, past disagreements set aside.
With a lead on Arvonen’s location, Iza executes a plan to rescue Joe. She offers herself up to Arvonen in exchange for Joe, with the understanding that the TSS will jump in to make arrests. However, an alien ship shows up to the meeting with the Arvonen One and Iza is transported on board. She finds herself on a replica flight deck of the Verity face-to-face with a Gatekeeper hybrid who looks like her father but isn’t. Her cousin is also there.
While on the TSS Conquest to oversee the meeting with Arvonen One, Ian and Wil are also unexpectedly transported from their ship onto the alien vessel. After a standoff with the Gatekeeper representatives, Wil manages to negotiate a peace accord, but Arvonen One is destroyed—with Victor, Raquel, Phaedra Hyttinen, and the rest of the crew along with it. Iza and her cousin, though viewed as abominations, are spared. The aliens then take the Gate tech and leave with a warning: “The others won’t be so forgiving.”
With his mother no longer a concern, Karter finally releases Iza from their engagement contract, acknowledging that he’s in love with his assistant, Becca, and she’ll make a great wife. He returns to Beurias to take full control of Apex and his family’s assets.
Iza is left to begin rebuilding her life with a new understanding of her identity. Seeing Joe’s bond with Iza, Wil grants Joe a stay of his sentence on Earth and allows him to go free as a Taran citizen. After recovering from the mental damage from Arvonen’s meddling, Joe reunites with Iza, and they look forward to a future together on the Verity.
