TV ADAPTATION OF THE BOOK SERIES
BY A.K. DUBOFF
ONE HOUR SCI-FI ADVENTURE

After their colony ship mysteriously explodes above an untamed alien world, an ex-soldier and inquisitive xenobiologist join forces to survive the planet's wondrous yet perilous wilds—only to unravel the first threads of an insidious interstellar conspiracy.
OVERVIEW
Stranded is a futuristic sci-fi adventure, in the vein of "Lost" meets "The Expanse"—jungle survival and mystery meets grounded political sci-fi and high-stakes conspiracy.
When their colony transport mysteriously explodes above an untamed alien world, ex-soldier Evan Taylor and xenobiologist Anya Rojas crash-land with a group of survivors. As they fight to stay alive in a dangerous wilderness, they uncover evidence that the crash was no accident—and that they are not alone on the planet.
As Evan and Anya become entangled in a conspiracy involving an exiled former chancellor, ancient alien technology, and a powerful crime syndicate, they race to find a long-lost alien starship capable of faster-than-light travel without jump gates—technology that could fundamentally reshape humanity’s future.

Stranded blends grounded survival drama with mystery, conspiracy, and high-stakes adventure—a thinking person’s sci-fi series with heart.
Stranded is based on the internationally bestselling book series "Starship of the Ancients" by USA Today bestselling and Nebula-nominated author A.K. DuBoff.

WHY THIS SHOW NOW?
Audiences continue to crave smart, character-driven sci-fi that balances high-concept ideas with emotional stakes. Shows like The Expanse, Fallout, and Silo have proven that viewers are hungry for grounded, cinematic science fiction that feels both epic and intimate.
Stranded taps into several timely themes: distrust in institutions, the search for truth in a world full of hidden agendas, and the power of unlikely partnerships. At a moment when audiences are drawn to stories about found family and moral complexity, Evan and Anya’s journey offers both thrilling adventure and genuine emotional resonance.
KEY CHARACTERS
At its core, Stranded is a story about trust, survival, and partnership. Evan and Anya’s relationship evolves from wary allies into something deeper as they navigate shifting loyalties, dangerous enemies, and the moral gray areas of a larger interstellar conflict.
Evan Taylor (mid-30s)
A former soldier and undercover operative seeking a fresh start on the colony world Aethos. Resourceful, protective, and deeply distrustful after a failed mission, Evan’s instincts kick in when the transport ship explodes above the planet. He forms a reluctant partnership—and eventual romance—with xenobiologist Anya as they uncover a larger conspiracy.
Anya Rojas (early-30s)
A brilliant and curious xenobiologist with a privileged background and a passion for exploration. Witty, resilient, and bold in the field, Anya’s scientific expertise becomes critical when she and Evan crash-land on the dangerous planet Aethos. She challenges Evan’s cynicism while developing a deep romantic connection with him.
Chancellor Conroy (late-50s)
The supposedly deceased former leader of the Commonwealth. He's been living in exile for five years, covertly orchestrating a return to power. His reappearance forces Evan and Anya to question who they can trust.
Roman Santano (late-20s)
The volatile younger brother of the Noche Syndicate’s leader. Ambitious, ruthless, and power-hungry, Roman is committed to destroying Conroy and claiming the alien ship for himself.
Zaris Alva (early-30s)
A sharp, resourceful black-market operator with a spunky edge. Zaris has a complicated past with Evan but becomes a key ally in the fight against larger threats.
TONE & STYLE
Stranded is a cinematic, adventurous space opera with grounded survival elements. The tone balances high-stakes action and conspiracy with genuine emotional warmth. Evan and Anya’s evolving bond—built on mutual respect, shared danger, and growing trust—serves as the emotional heart of the series.
Visually, the series embraces a lush, vibrant aesthetic. Aethos is a rich, living world, and the production design should feel expansive and cinematic, with sweeping jungle vistas and striking contrasts between the planet’s natural beauty and the wreckage of human technology.
While the story contains conspiracy and moral complexity, it ultimately emphasizes hope, resilience, and the belief that people can choose to do the right thing. The series explores trust, betrayal, and redemption without descending into cynicism, offering a tone that feels both thrilling and uplifting.
