Amy has always loved science fiction—books, movies, shows, and games. She was born in San Diego, California, and moved with her family to Vancouver, Washington, at the age of seven. After devouring some of the classics like Dune and Ender's Game in her tween years, she began writing science fiction and fantasy short stories.

In the ensuing years, Amy attended the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, where she continued to study creative writing, visual art and played viola in the school orchestra. During this time, she began the very early sketches of what would eventually evolve into the Cadicle series.

Amy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Portland State University, and also pursued minors in Professional Writing and Business Administration. After graduating, she moved to Portland, Oregon, and began working in business development for an energy efficiency consulting firm. Over the next several years, she primarily wrote proposals to prospective utility clients and managed the proposal development process. She then transitioned from energy efficiency into the architectural, engineering and planning industry. However, she eventually succumbed to the writing bug.

Now a full-time author, Amy currently lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband. When she's not writing, she enjoys travel, wine tasting, binge-watching TV series, and playing epic strategy board games.

ABOUT THE BOOK

The final fight will change their perception forever…

Everything Elle Hartmut and her friends thought they knew about the alien menace—and the nature of their universe—is wrong.

With mounting evidence that the aliens behind the Darkness reside on a hyperdimensional plane above spacetime, Elle and the Dark Sentinels will need a new approach to win. However, preventing the impending alien invasion will test their team in ways they never imagined.

The ancient artifacts wielded by the Dark Sentinels may hold the key to victory. If they can understand and master their true abilities, they may still be able to save the Hegemony and their loved ones before the invasion’s final stage consumes them all.

PLOT SYNOPSIS - Masters of Fate (Dark Stars Book 3)

Elle and the Dark Sentinels are still reeling from their brush with death after the spatial detonator explosion. However, there’s no time to waste—the aliens could be back with greater numbers.

The Evangiel journeys to the coordinates indicated in the alien signal, only to find that it doesn’t appear to be touched by the Darkness, or inhabited. The Dark Sentinels go in for a closer look. After roaming through city ruins, they discover an underground cavern containing what appear to be religious symbols. They traverse a labyrinth and find a cavern filled with crushed crystal and a shield artifact, which Maris takes. The team is attacked—physically and telepathically—by one of the alien beings, and they manage to defeat it.

Beyond, they find a crystal viewing-sphere identical to the one on the Evangiel. The viewing-sphere is a trans-dimensional access point, and the team transitions to a higher plane—an apparent maze of mirrored windows into other planes and times. The team is attacked by cloud-like higher dimensional beings and get lost in the maze. After the fight, Maris thinks she hears something and ventures further into the maze, eventually discovering a unicorn trapped behind one of the windows. Elle uses her sword to free the unicorn, which Maris nicknames ‘Hoofy’.

Hoofy leads the team to a hyperdimensional theater. They learn that the aliens—whom call themselves ‘Overlords’—reside in the sixth dimension (6D) and were once worshiped as gods by the planet’s natives. Hoofy and other purportedly mythical beings—unicorns, dragons, etc.—reside on the seventh dimensional (7D) plane. The team’s artifacts are actually higher-dimensional items, which enable them to make the dimensional transition. Hoofy recognizes that the Overlords must be stopped, and he asks to join the Dark Sentinels in their quest; he takes them back to the viewing-sphere, and they make the transition back to normal spacetime.

The team returns to the Evangiel to debrief. Toran arranges a call with the Hegemony scientists. The discuss the multiple dimensional planes and start to piecing answers together. The Dark Sentinels have been super-saturated by dimensionally ubiquitous, zepto-elemental singularities—'Duzies’—which are the building blocks of everything in the universe. Having control of these Duzies is what has given the team their apparently magical abilities.

The Dark Sentinels go on a scouting mission to 6D, where they learn about the source of the alien’s power: a hyperdimensional energy core connected to an interstellar energy grid. The aliens—which the team decides to call ‘Saps’—attack telepathically, freezing everyone in place. Toran is able to break the spell, and the team escapes. They return to the Evangiel and speak with the Hegemony scientist again, amending the previous theory about the Duzies to include mental fortitude being part of Toran’s Protector discipline alignment. The Duzie super-saturation is complete, and they should be reaching their maximum potential. The Saps are attempting to use the crystals in normal spacetime to access the crystalline network and ultimately control the Duzies for themselves.

Knowing the final fight is just around the corner, Elle and Kaiden decide to consummate their relationship. Immediately afterward, Maris announces that Hoofy has a solution for how to disable the Saps. They can use a spatial disruptor in concert with a viewing-sphere to suck the Saps’ hyperdimensional energy grid into a pocket dimension confined to the 6D plane. The Darkness is actually a giant spatial anomaly where the lines between 6D and spacetime are blurred. Setting off the disruptor at the energy core sight will cascade to everything connected to the energy grid.

The team implements the plan, first finding the spacetime equivalent location of the Saps’ energy core in 6D, and then traveling through 7D to the viewing-sphere chamber on the planet to retrieve the device. The Saps try to invade through the sphere, but the team holds them off. They get everything in place and then set off the spatial detonator. They ride the disruptor wave through the dimensional planes and use their Duzie-powered magic to force the Saps’ civilization into a pocket dimension.

With their mission complete, the team returns to Crystallis and initiates a universal reset, hoping they’ll retain enough memories to find each other.

After the reset, Elle gradually starts to remember her adventures with the Dark Sentinels. She finishes school and then journeys to a rendezvous with Kaiden and her team—friends who shared in an experience no one else could understand. The Duzies are still inside them, and their abilities are returning. Good times are ahead.
